The 1954 Gordon & Hildred Goetschel House was Ray Kappe's first single family residence built after his architectural education at USC. The house was painstakingly restored from a nearly demolished state with Andreas Larsson of HAB House.
One of the many challenging aspects of the home was to repair the existing sliding doors. These doors gave the home its distinctive view and indoor-outdoor flow. The jammed and rusted handles and mechanisms had to be completely restored.
Custom finishes such as a dining table, skylights, and built-in cabinetry were reimagined based on Kappe's drawings and sketches.
