Gates is a full scale fabricated installation conducted in a Fall 2021 USC Studio.
This solo, self-funded project spanned a semester of research and iteration to prove feasibility and scale. The intent of Gates is to form a variety of interior spacial forms through a theoretically endless array of slender panels.
The realized version of the project used cost effective materials and spanned two 20-panel-long strips to demonstrate a variety of forms. Other possible materials, forms, and locations were presented in renders to illustrate the Gates' ambiguous nature.
Photos below and to the left depict small scale models to envision structural ideas and preview possible vantage points. The following photos show the 2 weeks of fabrication and 2 hours of installation.
Renders below envision Gates in a multitude of locations, using the surroundings to inform material and interior form.
